Introducing Hannah Doherty as our newest Hamilton Operatic Society board member!
Hannah’s appointment to the board offers a broad range of experience, passion, and a strong desire to foster a diverse, community-focused space that embraces innovation and provides a platform for burgeoning artists to flourish in the Waikato and beyond.
Hannah started on her performing arts journey 20 years ago as a student of the Drury Dance studio for 12 years, where she went on to combine dance with her love of singing and acting in musical theatre productions such as HOS productions of Mamma Mia (2015), Evita (2015), and Rocky Horror show (2016). Hannah has been an avid and dedicated performer across multiple theatre groups and productions throughout the Waikato.
Beyond the stage, Hannah’s commitment to nurturing young talent shows through her previous work in education within youth group co-ordination, assistant speech and drama teaching and work as an inclusive learning assistant. These roles have highlighted her dedication to cultivating skills and confidence in aspiring youth onstage and off-stage. In recent years Hannah has shifted her focus professionally to working in project management and interim leadership opportunities.
Hannah’s diverse experience from these roles will form her contributions to the board with strategic acumen and meticulous attention to detail alongside her creative skill set, where she has gained a holistic understanding of what makes a production genuinely exceptional. Hannah cannot wait to be a part of HOS’s exciting growth during her appointment to the board. She is grateful to be able to give back to a society that has provided her with many opportunities and growth in her own musical theatre journey.
